Makeover Dentistry - Plastic Surgery Alternatives

Meet another makeover patient we had the pleasure of working with. This young woman is a successful business owner who, like many executives, has a busy lifestyle and work schedule that has a tendency to interfere with maintaining optimal dental health. In short, she didn't make routine dental office visits.. as we all should.
The cumulative effects of her active lifestyle eventually became fairly significant. The number of dental issues that accrued led to a feeling of embarassment and in some situations was self conscious about her smile.
Her attempts of getting dentistry performed on a piecemeal basis wasn't working. Our patient had consulted a number of dentists and concluded that her desire to have the "dazzle" and function she wanted would require not only extensive dentistry but also certain plastic surgery procedures including a face lift, eyelid and brow surgery and possibly dermabrasion.
After consulting with our doctors, the patient was given her choice of treatment plans that would address all of the concerns she had. Old fillings needed replacement, problems with deep recurrent decay in certain teeth, replacing missing teeth, correcting the feeling that she had "fat teeth" on one side of her mouth (due to certain restorative procedures performed during years past) and to correct her jaw line that was beginning to drop.
In summary.. the patient was seeking a smile where her teeth felt optimally healthy, natural looking, straight, balanced and would produce a degree of dazzle and function she wanted for herself and for her business activities.
Jaw Bone Tissue Graft and Reconstruction
The jaw bone drift was addressed with laser assisted hard and soft tissue grafting, employing OpusDent Erbium, Carbon Dioxide, and Diode Lasers. The recurrent dental caries was resolved. Laser technology was also used to provide periodontal treatment.
Cosmetic Makeover Procedures
After performing selective root canals, combinations of new Empress porcelain crowns and hand crafted bridgework were carefully used to restore natural jaw function, bite and occlusion.
Special attention was given to the patient's overriding desire to have a smile that would "proportionally fit her face." Something she felt she never had before.
Precision Aesthetics
Soft tissue laser treatments artfully reshaped and contoured the entire gum line, producing a final aesthetic effect that was quite dramatic, as seen in this second photo.
Patient Commentary
Our patient, the newly confident businesswoman, wasn't aware the degree of makeover result she achieved was possible through dentistry. The aesthetic outcome was a significant event for our patient.... leading to the decision that plastic surgery would not be needed. There was no longer a desire for the facelift, eyelid and brow surgery and dermabrasion she had planned for.
